What kind of diet is bistroMD?

The bistroMD diet is a unique diet plan founded by Dr. Cederquist and built with over 20 years of experience helping people in her practice. She dedicated years helping to isolate a common struggle between her patients and designed a diet plan to help correct that metabolic dysfunction, a very common metabolism condition that makes weight easy to gain and hard to lose.

All programs use food as medicine and a scientific balance of complex carbohydrates, lean proteins, and healthy fats to restore your body’s natural rhythm, which can lead to weight loss, improve blood pressure and glucose levels, boost daily energy, and result in more sound sleep.

We structure meals to contain 4-5 ounces of lean protein, 1-2 servings of vegetables, and about 1 serving (1/2 cup cooked) complex carbohydrate (i.e. brown rice, quinoa). Our women's program provides around 1200 calories per day (from 3 meals and 2 protein snacks) and our men’s program provides 1400 calories per day (from 3 meals and 3 snacks) with about 40% of these calories from lean protein, 30% from complex carbohydrates and 30% from healthy fats.
