Our expert dietitian says: TRICK.
100 calorie packs are normally made up of a lot of sugar and processed ingredients. They taste good at the time, but they won’t keep you satisfied for long. Without protein or healthy fats, you’ll be searching for another 100 calories in the next half hour. It’s important to choose snacks that are healthy and also satisfy your body's caloric requirements. Otherwise, you’ll be snacking non-stop all day long.
So, what’s a better choice to make when those snack cravings attack?
Lowfat string cheese is a great alternative that will keep you feeling fuller longer. For a sweeter option, celery with a tablespoon of reduced fat peanut butter will also work.
When snack time comes, reach for treats that are lower in calories to hold you over until meal time.
If it helps, pre-package your own portions so you’re not tempted to keep snacking mindlessly. Put the right amount in a bag or on a plate and then put the rest away.
Remember: Out of sight, out of mind.
