What the Biggest Lack of Energy Is Caused From

Day-to-day responsibilities may compromise precious sleep cycles, contributing to temporary fatigue until the body lands a good night's rest. But if you are consistently always tired, your lack of energy may be primarily attributed to a sedentary lifestyle along with other factors. Define what may be impacting your personal, never-ending fatigue and discover how to re-energize your life!

Lack of Energy: The Most Common Causes

Inactivity

Kicking off with the potentially biggest lack of energy... Inactivity and living a sedentary lifestyle. The body is intended to move and when not in motion, the body essentially slows down and starts becoming comfortable in this position, ultimately resisting the desire to get up. Being inactive has additional implications to depression and other chronic health conditions, which may only lengthen the period of fatigue. And especially in today's world, staying sedentary is not just at home, but may be at work as well. As the Newton's low of physics suggests... "A body in motion at a constant velocity will remain in motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an outside force." That being said, try staying strong, persevering, and fighting through today's sedentary society! (But maybe not in a straight line...)

Poor Diet

Consuming an inadequate, poor diet may also be causing fatigue, primarily related to nutritional deficiencies. Additionally, it is not too uncommon for people to blanket the problem by consuming sugar and caffeine in hopes to boost energy, although they may just be making you more tired. These fatigue-fighting foods can perk and boost energy levels!

Inadequate Sleep

Sleep essentially acts as a daily reset button, offering the opportunity for the body to recharge and reboot for the following day ahead. Not receiving the recommended seven to nine of sleep each night compromises natural energy. Catch up on shut-eye by turning off all lights and electronics or try one of these foods that can help you sleep.

Depression and Stress

Feelings of depression can be both mentally and physically draining, ultimately leading to a lack of energy. Despite the initial causes of depression or stress, it may intensify that tired feeling and cause an increased desire to lounge or even binge eat, though also dependent on individual responses. Defeat such negative feelings with these five stress-relieving exercises, practicing yoga for more energy, or any other active activity you find to reduce personal stress.

Health Conditions

An extensive laundry list of health conditions may be contributing to energy loss, including cancer, anemia, diabetes, heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and multiple sclerosis. Targeting and managing the underlying cause can naturally reduce tired feelings. It is also important to identify whether or not prescribed medications may be a culprit of fatigue, as energy loss may be an identified side effect.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse

Though alcohol is suggested to fit into a well-balanced diet, consistent drinking binges and abusing other drugs can lead to reduced energy, especially as they start to become excreted from the body.

Adrenal Fatigue

Although adrenal fatigue is not a clinically defined term in the medical world, its believers tout it as the most common cause of fatigue. Adrenal fatigue is a termed condition in which the adrenal glands have become fatigued by overuse, particularly from high stress. Considering the adrenal glands produce more than 50 hormones, with some related to energy conversion and metabolism, a decline in their efficiency and productivity may compromise energy levels.
