Affectionately called The Foodie and The M.D., Ed and Caroline Cederquist have been happily married for over 20 years, and have been working together to change lives for almost as long.

Both Ed and Caroline were all too familiar with weight issues growing up. Experiencing personal journeys with weight loss and living for weight management, for Ed and Caroline, it's not about being on a diet, but embracing a healthy lifestyle change. This means having a program that is easy to follow that doesn't sacrifice taste for nutritional quality.

By combining their love for great-tasting real food with the unique knowledge that food is medicine, the duo has formed and sustains one of the most successful weight loss programs in the industry.

Their family values have allowed the couple to stay grounded, as well as their family of four children. Keeping the tradition alive that you don't have to be a huge conglomerate to change lives, Ed and Caroline are proud to be thought leaders in a field where people can experience life-transforming wellness.

Ed isn't your typical CEO. As bistroMD's Foodie, he loves to be in the kitchen helping our chefs create healthy and delicious recipes. Ed fell in love with great cooking and a healthy lifestyle while attending college. At Caroline's medical center, Ed would often hear patients say, "I'm losing weight, but I don't have the time or knowledge to cook healthy." This gave Ed an idea: Why couldn't he combine his love for food, with Caroline's expertise as The M.D.? From this idea, bistroMD was founded. As The Foodie, Ed visits exotic locales across the world to give bistroMD's entrees a truly global flavor. This means creating entrees using only the best ingredients, combined with the right science and the beauty of an artistic presentation.

As The M.D., Caroline read her first statistics about obesity at a very young age. Growing up, the majority of Caroline's family was overweight. Through her knowledge of weight management, she is proof that you can manage your genetic predispositions through healthy lifestyle changes. She wanted a career where she could help people understand this too. Caroline noticed that many illnesses she managed were aggravated by problems with nutrition or weight. This inspired her interest in bariatrics, the specialty of medical weight management. It's through her extensive work with patients that Caroline developed the nutritional foundation for bistroMD, focusing on the right balance of macronutrients in the diet: the protein, the right carbohydrates, healthy fats and fiber. She further carries her message through publications in professional journals, and has appeared as a weight-management expert on several popular television shows, including Dr. Phil.
