As an athlete, he was constantly training, but when he stopped training his eating habits never changed. "It wasn't about the weight loss for me," Ashley says, "at least initially. But suddenly, I had all of this extra time on my hands from not having to cook every meal and I wanted to see what would happen if I pushed myself physically.

"Just completed Week 5 and I'm officially down 20 lbs" Ashley's advice for people starting out on a weight loss journey is to think of the process as a marathon, not a sprint. Many people are excited on the first day of their journey, but by day 5 they are ready to give up.

"My mindset has been 'commit, don't quit."

"There are going to be times when you want an entire cheat day. Indulge yourself, don't go too far off the rails, and then come back and recommit to your goals.
"You should be prepared to give into your goal for 3-6 months. Really commit to it, see where it takes you, and enjoy the journey along the way."
