In our society, many of us have the perception that fasting for food can be a good thing. With all of the hype surrounding fasting diets in the media, many of us get the idea in our heads that if we don’t eat a lot, we will probably lose a lot. In reality, this is not the case.

The problem with fasting diets is that they don’t give our body the proper nutrition it needs to protect it from certain harmful effects. For example, if you are on a diet that contains an insufficient amount of protein, your body perceives this as a threat to your survival and slows down your metabolism. Ensuring an adequate amount of properly balanced proteins spread throughout the day helps keep your metabolism optimal. Unfortunately, many people think that your body burns only the excess fat you are anxious to shed. Sadly, it isn’t this easy, which is something people on fasting diets learn quickly. The fasting diet may seem like an easy way to lose weight “fast,” but it is actually doing your body more harm than good.

The “Superfoods” Approach

If something is super, we sometimes think of it as something that can give us what we are searching for. The branding of superfoods as one of the most healthy diet crazes has been in our society for many years. It has led to the launch of different weight loss supplements, cookbooks, and other weight loss diet ideas that are guaranteed to work their magic on your weight loss goals.

Most superfoods are “super,” but many people think they can magically transform your body into a lean, mean, fat-burning machine. Just eating green vegetables and munching on strawberries won’t give you the results you are looking for. If you are going to take the “superfoods” road, you also need to make sure you have a balance of other foods in your diet.

It is important to realize that not one single vegetable or fruit holds the secret to good health. Instead of having a diet full of “superfoods,” have just a “superdiet.” Medical studies have shown that diets which consist of a proper balance of foods such as whole grains, vegetables, fruits, with some fish and quality protein are the key to successful and healthy weight loss. Balanced food groups are definitely one of the keys to healthy eating and probably one of the best weight loss diet ideas you can stick with.

The Non-focus on Re-focus

When people start on a diet plan, they focus their time and energy into something they feel will make them live a healthier life. They want to change their eating habits, and they want to lose weight: they think their goal is simple.

What people don’t realize is that maintaining your initial focus is crucial to being successful in your diet. If you don’t take the time to actually reflect on what else you want to achieve during your weight loss, you may end up feeling overwhelmed and giving up.
