Lentils are great for cooking, and they are great for your health. Lentils are a type of bean, called a legume, and they are readily available throughout the year. Lentils contain a lot of dietary fiber, and other important nutrients like iron, protein, and potassium. They also sit very low on the caloric intake chart, and are found in some of the oldest ancient Greek food recipes.

Lentils are used in a variety of cooking because they are nutritious and great at absorbing a variety of different flavors. It is believed that lentils date back as early as pre-historic times, and were originally used and consumed in Asia. In fact, it is believed that lentils were one of the very first foods to be cultivated. Due to their ability to stay moist for long periods of time, lentils are a perfect accompaniment with ancient Greek food recipes because of their ability to hold flavors together.

The history of Greek cuisine is a long and flavorful one due to its variety of colorful dishes and unique flavors. Greek cooking is over 4,000 years old, and its palette keeps growing.

Olive oil is popular to cook with in Greek cuisine, as well as spices like dill, basil, and thyme. Our chicken with Greek inspired lentils is a flavorful dish packed full of Greek flavor!

Our chef grills a delicate boneless chicken breast with traditional Greek spices and marinade. Once the chicken has been grilled to perfection, he presents the chicken over a bed of Turkish-scented lentils, and smoothly cooked carrot coins. Our chicken is then topped with a thick dollop of dilled Greek yogurt, and garnished with a citrus-scented chopped leaf spinach.

You don’t have to travel to the Mediterranean in order to bring the flavor with you. Let BistroMD bring the flavors of Greece right to your front door!
