“The structure of women’s connective tissue is vertical, while a man’s is angled, which means that fat cells aren’t able to push through as much,” says Carrie.
“Because of this difference in connective tissue structure, excess fat isn’t able to push through, which limits the physical appearance of bumps on the skin.”
What Are the Best Ways to Get Rid of Cellulite?
Other than going through expensive liposuction procedures that can cost thousands of dollars, there are some remedies available in your local drug store that can reduce, (and help get rid of), the cellulite bumps that appear on your skin.
Sadly, there isn’t a cure for cellulite, but there are things you can do to help you feel more confident about showing off your bikini body this summer. Some of the best solutions are skin-firming lotions that won’t break the bank.
These lotions help by expelling excess moisture that can become trapped between bands of collagen in your connective tissue.
“Many mainstream lotion brands actually have cellulite-specific products that work well on a budget,” says Carrie.
One of these is from the beauty brand, Olay, and it actually uses natural extracts to help tone and firm your skin, while making it appear more vibrant and youthful.
“Olay is one of the top beauty brands in the country, and their Olay quench firming body lotion can help reduce the appearance of cellulite bumps through the use of natural ingredients, like ginseng,” says Carrie.
Another good product comes from the beauty brand, St. Ives.
“St. Ives has a great gel shield cream that contains ingredients like caffeine to help firm skin. It also has hints of green tea, which soothes your skin, and it won’t cost you more than seven dollars,“ says Carrie.
“This cream also contains menthol, so it is definitely something that will make you and your skin feel more relaxed.”
Another great “getting rid of cellulite” product, comes from the beauty experts over at Jergens.
What’s so great about this particular product is that it actually reduces the appearance of cellulite bumps, while helping you maintain a summer glow.
“Jergen’s natural glow body lotion will help you maintain a bronze tone throughout the summer, but it also contains elasticity-boosting ingredients that will help reduce and prevent the appearance of cellulite bumps,” says Carrie.

In addition to these beauty products, a healthy diet also plays the most important role when it comes to battling your cellulite bumps.
“Eating the right meals, in combination with a balance of healthy nutrients, can also help prevent, and get rid of, cellulite. Nutrition is important when it comes to looking healthy, especially when it comes to your skin,” says Carrie.
