Recession Leads to Weight Gaine Worries About Recession Leads To Weight Gain

Research Brief:

A recent survey of over 4,400 U.S. workers shows that the economy and worries about recession have caused stress leading to weight gain. 1 in 10 workers report snacking more often due to stress over the economic situation. 43% of respondents reported gaining weight at their current job. Almost one third of those reported weight gain of 10 pounds or more. Gaining 10 pounds can lead to negative effects on overall health.

Of the total respondents, only 9% reported working out during their lunch hour. Much larger percentages reported eating out and getting lunch from a vending machine.

There is a considerable need for better workplace eating habits. Particularly, during this recession when stress snacking is becoming such a common problem.
