Recipe: BBQ Brisket

Recipe: BBQ Brisket
BBQ Brisket

The brisket, a popular cut of meat from the lower breast or lower chest of beef, is excellent with BBQ sauce. This delicious brisket is brushed with our sweet and tangy BBQ sauce and paired with buttered corn and steamed broccoli for that authentic down South feel.

Barbecue Sauce

What you’ll need:

1/2 cup ketchup

1/2 cup water

2 tablespoons of molasses

2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon of white wine vinegar

1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon of light brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon of hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco)

1/4 teaspoon of granulated garlic

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Makes 1-1 ½ cups

Directions

Whisk together the ketchup, water, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, white wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, salt, hot pepper sauce, granulated garlic and black pepper together in a small heavy-bottomed saucepan and place over medium heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and continue cooking at a simmer, stirring together, for another 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely. Pour into a glass jar and store uncovered in the refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight. This allows the flavors to blend together and reduces any sharpness from the vinegar.

Beef Brisket

What you’ll need:

20 ounces of beef brisket trimmed of fat

½ cup of apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon of chopped garlic

1 cup of water

1 teaspoon of onion powder

¼ teaspoon of black pepper

¼ teaspoon of sea salt

Preparation

Place the Brisket in a 4” baking pan, mix together all the ingredients and pour over the brisket to cover the beef then wrap tight with saran wrap and refrigerate for 4 hours (this can be done the night before)

Heat up the grill and grill each side for 5 minutes each. Brush with BBQ sauce every so often.

Buttered Corn

What you’ll need:

4 ears of yellow corn

2 tablespoon of olive oil butter with sea salt

1/8 teaspoon of black pepper

Directions

Grill corn on the grill until al dente (to the bite). When the corn is done, place the olive oil and the butter in a bowl with the pepper. Scrape the corn off the cob and mix it together in the bowl (you can also keep it whole and brush the butter mixture onto the cob).

Steamed broccoli

What you’ll need:

12 ounces of broccoli florets

32 ounces of water

¼ teaspoon of sea salt

½ teaspoon of fresh lemon juice

1/8 teaspoon of black pepper

Directions

Bring water to a boil. Add salt and broccoli. Boil for 2 minutes, then remove from the heat and strain the water out. Move the broccoli to a bowl and toss with lemon juice and pepper. Serve immediately.
