It is a time between meals and you are desiring a little something salty. You go to the pantry and see popcorn and pretzels. 

Which should you choose? This is the battle of some of America's favorite snacks.

Popcorn Vs. Pretzels

Both of these snacks are a better choice than potato chips and a few other treats that can be found in most pantries. However, one salty snacks triumphs the other when it comes to nutritional content. 

In this battle, popcorn wins! Here is why:

A snack-sized bag of pretzels and a single-serving bag of 94 percent fat-free microwave popcorn have about the same amount of protein and fat. But a single serving of popcorn is six whole cups. That is a lot of popcorn! And in those six cups, you will get three servings of whole-grain and five grams of fiber.

If that was not enough to sway you to grab the bag and heat, a serving of popcorn has half the amount of sodium of a serving of pretzels. (Of course, that does not mean start squirting on the butter and enjoying an endless tub at the movie theater...) 

But there are plenty of brands of popcorn found at the grocery store that have a fat-free, or almost fat-free, option. So stick the kernels in the microwave, pop in your favorite movie, and enjoy!
