Video Games and Kids Health
IPods, Xbox, video games all relates to kids health, studies show 60% of children in America are obese, according to 2002 statistics 22% of U.S. preschoolers were overweight, now you can imagine how big the problem would be right now, so who are we to blame?
Do you know the fact that in the U.S 32% of 2-7 year olds and 65% of 8-18 years olds have television in their bedrooms. Kids do not know the consequences of staying home all day playing video games unless it is taught to them, so what ideas can we bring in our family to make the value of exercise for kids important, to begin with explain to your family and kids video games, TV and internet should not be a priority, make a new rule; after receiving a 30 minute cardiovascular exercise, then you’re allowed to play video games etc.,
Now kids exercise does not have to be boring, write a schedule and plan a family day where you can take your kids to the park and play tag for example, many kids do not know playing tag is an exercise so they will enjoy it.
If you’re having a hard time getting your kids to get outside and it tends to be a struggle you can always buy the Wii fit this is a great alternative, neither is it boring and it can cause a sweat too. Also explaining to your children and family the effects on bad eating health and poor exercise and the causes it can lead to, will probably motivate them to start exercising daily if not a couple days a week.
Studies show by receiving 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise daily can lessen heart disease, diabetes and others. In overall taking your family to the park, buying a Wii fit and explaining to your family and kids the causes of bad health is a great jump start on motivating your family to a healthier lifestyle.
