Healthy Eating Habits: Water and Nutrients
The most important aspect to healthy eating is your body's need for water. Approximately 75 percent of your body is made up of the stuff. Water is needed to obtain all the nutrients from the foods you consume. The average body needs at least eight fluid ounces of water a day. Depending on where you live, your body size, and your composition, you might need even more.
Healthy eating also requires you to eat plenty of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. This is essential so you can get the energy you need for your body to function properly. For athletes, or any regular person who needs their body to be at top performance, eating healthy is a must.
Another essential aspect of healthy eating is eating in moderation. As long as you consume the right foods, there is no need to overeat, especially if you wish to lose weight. You should never eat more than the recommended portion of food. The protein portion of your meal should not be bigger than the size of your fist. The key is to figure out what your body can handle without extra calories being consumed. Your body functions at its best when it gets the right amount of food, no more, and no less.
In summary, it is extremely important to eat healthy for your long term, and short term, health. To live a long, fruitful life, you must monitor what you eat, and that should be motivation enough to eat healthy. Especially for high school students, healthy eating is the key to normal growth and having enough energy to do the things high school students enjoy. Without watching what you eat, it is impossible to maintain the life you want to live.
