Bridal Bootcamp Diet

All potential brides want to look their best on their wedding day, and because of this, many consider utilizing a bridal bootcamp diet to help them shed unwanted pounds.

Indeed, your wedding day is probably one which you've been dreaming about since you were a child, and you want this day to be perfect. With so many diet options out there, it can often be difficult to find the one that works best for you.

There are, many books and fad diets that promise to help you achieve your ideal figure in time for your wedding. What these books and diets often leave out, is that regardless of what approach you take, losing a few pounds will require a great deal of determination and hard work.

Still, there are so many fad diets, and changing health concerns, that it can be extremely difficult to find a healthy diet, let alone getting started on one.

Here are some bridal bootcamp diet tips from BistroMD that will get you on your way to that ideal wedding day figure.

Calories Are Crucial

First, it is important to decide on an appropriate caloric intake.

The amount of weight you want to lose will determine how many calories you can consume daily. Ideally, you will want to start your bridal bootcamp diet at least three months before your wedding date, just so your metabolism can re-train itself to promote healthy weight loss, and so you can maintain your goals.

While professionals use various methods of determining exactly how many calories you can eat, the general rule is to reduce your intake, from the norm, by about 20 percent.

For example, a bride who weighs 150 pounds should consume roughly 2,150 calories per day. By reducing this consumption by 20 percent will give her the opportunity to lose weight at a healthy, and steady pace.

Rapid Weight Loss is NOT Healthy

Brides considering a bridal bootcamp diet should keep in mind that losing more than two pounds a week can be dangerous.

In fact, if weight loss is greater than this each week, it is more than likely that muscle mass is being lost.

For this reason, it is important that you measure how much body fat you are losing, in addition to keeping track of your total weight loss.

Body fat measurements will indicate whether you are just losing fat, or if you are also losing muscle mass. If tests indicate that you are losing muscle mass, the experts at BistroMD recommend you consume more calories in the form of lean quality protein.

It's also important that you gradually increase caloric intake, so your body can make the proper adjustments from your weight loss.

Make Sure There is Variety in Your Diet

A good bridal bootcamp diet will ensure that you are consuming a variety of foods from each of the following food groups: proteins, fruits and vegetables, dairy, carbohydrates, and even fats.

The healthiest diets are well balanced with essential nutrients, and require that you eat three properly portioned meals a day, and that you get a healthy amount of exercise.

Entirely eliminating certain foods from your diet is actually counterproductive. Healthy fats, for example, are required for certain body functions.

Given this, it is BistroMD's goal to provide you with a guideline as to what different foods mean according to calories. Generally speaking, one gram of carbohydrates is equivalent to 4 calories, one gram of protein is also about 4 calories, and one gram of fat is equivalent to 9 calories.

Perhaps the most important message, for any bride starting a bridal bootcamp diet, is to take gradual steps towards losing wieght.

Weight loss should be steady, and should not exceed two pounds per week. Rapid weight loss is not healthy weight loss, so you'll need to practice discipline in cutting calories, and in getting plenty of exercise on your bridal bootcamp diet!
