This is the perfect place to get straight answers from a Bistro M.D. program expert.

Why is Bistro M.D. different from other diet programs?
For starters, Bistro M.D. test is unlike any other diet program. It was not developed by a marketing company, a dietician or a food company but by a medical doctor who specializes in weight management. Dr. Cederquist has over 10 years of clinical experience in the field of weight management; she understands what it really takes to lose weight and keep it off.
Our program includes unique meals and snacks as well as a weekly information program that will break down for you the science behind losing weight.
Our meals are fully cooked, portion-controlled and perfectly balanced. Our chefs have created culinary masterpieces while working under Dr. Cederquist’s tight nutritional guidance. You will feel like having both a personal chef and a diet doctor in your own kitchen at all times! We make losing weight a delightful, easy experience.
Who is the typical Bistro M.D. customer?
There is no one typical Bistro M.D. customer. We have a wide variety of customers ranging from 18 to 80 years of age and from every walk of life. They share one common factor: most of our customers have tried different diets before joining us and understand the challenges of losing weight. They also understand why our diet will work for them. Our program is well suited for people who want to ensure better health, save time, and save money.
How much weight will I lose by eating the Bistro M.D. meals?
Our unique program has helped thousands of people shed unwanted pounds. The amount of weight you lose depends on many factors: your age, activity level, amount of exercise, medical conditions and present weight. In general, our members lose from two to three pounds per week.
How many daily calories is the Full Plan?
The Bistro M.D. Plan provides an average of 1,200 calories per day for the full plan (3 meals and 2 snacks per day). There is some very important information to keep in mind while looking at this number: The calories come from lean protein and complex carbohydrates which are essential for your body to function properly, feel full and balance its chemistry so you can lose the weight. Some programs focus on calories only, but very often they are “empty calories”: simple carbohydrates and fat which do your body a major disservice
We say an AVERAGE, and this is a very important part, as we medically prove that if you stick to a strict 1200 calorie/day diet everyday of the week, your body gets used to that making it harder and harder each week to lose weight. With the slight increase and decrease of calories on a day-to-day basis your body and metabolism do not have the chance to get used to one set point. Thus, in turn the weight comes off easier and in the end it is easier to maintain your weight.
Though, even if you are getting the same amount of food every day, we are changing calories intake every day for you, ranging between 1,100 and 1,400 per day.
Do you have different plans for men and women?
We usually recommend our standard plan of the 3 meals and 2 snacks per day to the "average" woman (5'1"-5'5" sedentary to moderately active). For taller women, more active women and the "average" man (5'5"-6'0" sedentary to moderately active) we recommend adding in a 3rd protein snack + 1 serving of fruit per day to bump up the calories to about 1500 calories per day. You can either order the extra protein snacks from us or we can always give you ideas of what you could add in on your own.
Is the plan appropriate for Diabetics?
Yes, it is. At Cederquist Medical Wellness Center we see dozen of patients every day and most of them are diagnosed as diabetic or pre-diabetic. Dr Cederquist designed the Bistro M.D. program with her diabetic patients in mind, and the program fits their needs perfectly. The program focuses on lean protein, complex carbohydrates, and low fat. The lean protein is what is going to keep you feeling full and maintain your blood sugars. We avoid any of the simple sugars like white bread, potatoes, and pasta. These are the sugars that spike your blood sugar then drop rapidly and cause you to be hungry again shortly after eating. Also, a value of our program for diabetics is that our meals are already portioned out. You don't have TO worry about measuring food AND making sure you aren't OVER - eating.

What should I drink? How much should I drink? Can I drink coffee, tea or milk?
We recommend drinking a minimum of 64 oz (8 glasses) of water per day. This can be in the form of regular water, flavored water (like propel, fruit 2 O), decaffeinated diet soda, any of the diet fruit juices (like Diet V8 Splash) and Crystal Light. The water helps to keep you hydrated and helps to "flush" everything out of your system.
You are allowed to drink caffeinated drinks, like diet soda, coffee, tea, but we like to limit them to 2 per day. Indeed, caffeine is a diuretic and causes your cells to retain more water, which will slow down weight loss. With coffee, if you drink it with a creamer we recommend the low fat creamer, and if you use sugar use a sugar substitute like Splenda.
We recommend avoiding fruit juices because they are high in sugars. Milk is ok to drink because it does have protein in it, however limit the milk to 1 serving (8 oz) per day because of the sugar (lactose) found in the milk. If you are going to drink milk, drink the Low-fat (1%) or skim milk.
What about my non-dieting family members?
Many of our members have lost the weight and are now looking to eat well and maintain their health. First and foremost, this is simply wonderful food, prepared with smart, creative ingredients to satisfy you. The practicality and convenience make these meals the ideal way for anyone to enjoy restaurant-caliber cooking for a fraction of the cost of dining out, and with the added benefit of complete nutritional balance.
My parents are elderly and have problems eating healthy. Can they use this plan?

Meals just need to be heated, then are ready to be served and enjoyed.Bistro M.D. would be especially helpful for those who live alone or have health limitations that prevent them from shopping and cooking for themselves.
Can you order Bistro M.D. for one day?
As you know, you can’t lose weight with one meal. You need a plan, and Bistro M.D. is that plan. It is designed for three meals and two snacks a day, seven days a week. If you stay with the plan, you will see a difference. If you truly want to win in a diet plan, you have to stick with it. Bistro M.D. was designed with quality and taste in mind so you lose weight and never feel that you are on a diet.
How long would you suggest I stay on the program?
You can stay on the plan for the rest of your life. Bistro M.D. is designed as part of a lifestyle philosophy. It will help you lose weight then maintain your weight once you have lost the extra pounds. Unlike other "diet" plans, there are no nutritional drawbacks to our program. You can stay on our plan as long as you enjoy our exceptional meal selection.
If at any time you feel you are not reaching your weight loss goal, our staff dieticians are available to work with you and make sure you get where you want to be.
This seems to be a lot of food. Is there a plan with less food?
Believe it or not, this is the question we get the most! TOO MUCH FOOD! Can you believe it—a diet program with too much food?
The reason is that when gaining weight, most people stop eating, thinking it will help them lose weight. But this actually impacts your body chemistry and does your body a major disservice. Our plan is clinically developed to provide the right amount of nutrients during the day, enabling your body to function well, avoid cravings and lose weight. So even if it appears like a lot of food, it is the precise amount of nutrients your body needs.
If you feel you cannot eat all, we recommend that you still eat the three meals and two snacks a day. Rather than avoiding a snack altogether, just eat part of it (half of your cookie, half of the chips). This is better for you to lose weight than to eliminate one of the meals.
What if I go out?
The program includes “My Night.” That night you decide what you want to eat. If you need to eat out with friends, make that your designated “My Night.” Enjoy your dinner, have a great time with your friends. This occurs only once a week and will not hurt your progress… just make sure you have a great time with your friends.
How much does it cost?
You can reap the benifits of this program for as little as $21.42 per day.
For less than a restaurant dinner, you get: - 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, - A weekly information program to guide you with your weight loss, - Access to our team of dieticians
What if I do not like a food?
We hope we have put together a menu of widely accepted food items for our customers. We constantly work with our menu to make foods more flavorful and enjoyable and to monitor the quality of items we serve. Of course, if you have certain food restrictions because of food allergies or religions preference our staff will replace the items you can not eat with the appropriate meals.

How do I cook my Bistro M.D. meals?
You don’t! The meals have already been fully cooked, using an innovative, high-tech method. They are vacuum sealed in individual pouches then cooked slowly in their own natural juices. This seals in not only the full natural flavor and texture of the foods but also nutrient content that is normally lost, even in regular home cooking. You end up with a healthy, delectable, restaurant-quality meal! All you need to do is heat the pouches (in simmering water, or microwave), then cut them open and put your meal on a plate! And use a nice plate! Don’t you deserve the best?
What happens if I defrost a meal but don’t cook it right away?
In addition to retaining the natural flavor, texture and nutrients of the foods, our remarkable cooking process also preserves the freshness of foods for longer than conventional preparation and packaging. Hence, you can safely keep a defrosted meal in the vacuum-sealed packaging in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. When you’re ready to eat, simply follow your normal heat-and-serve process. We do strongly recommend, however, keeping your meals frozen until you are ready to enjoy them. |
